SPOT. ON. ROGER.

Hard to destroy Isreal with a nuclear strike ( their demented plan all along) when all of their nuclear-weapons grade 235 is in a puddle deep beneath megatons of rubble.

Trump indeed is playing multi-dimensional chess with the other world leaders. I can only imagine their thoughts.

"Well, shit, I didn't see THAT coming..."

Assuming historians in the future will be like those of the past, you are so right about Trump taking his place along side the greatest movers/shakers of them all. There is no one on the world or domestic stage that is his match.

There’s this fellow in Moscow who desperately wants to win Trump’s favor. I suspect he may play a key role in escorting Khamenei out the door.

You have said it in your subtitle: not the beginning of WWIII but its prevention. We are infinitely better off thanks to the leadership of Netanyahu and Trump; in an unbelievably new dawn in the spirit of Reagan's phrase. That you seamlessly fold in the genius of Zappaism qualifies you for the US-Iranian Peace and Reconciliation mission. The Nuremberg Trials will look like Art Linkletter by comparison.

Perhaps not by accident the verse of the day today is 1 Peter 5:6, therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.

Isn't it a great feeling to wake up with a lot of pride in your country? Something not felt in the past 4 years, but something I think will continue for some time now.

Any fallout from this will be irrelevant, and the politicians in this country that don't get on board will show their colors very brilliantly and end their careers. Many are already doing just that.

Another important and well-written column Roger. President Trump's courage, vision and decisiveness in doing what is right is beyond spectacular. We are truly blessed and fortunate that he is in charge! He is a dominant, alpha-male like no other and thankfully he's doing what is right, just and necessary. G-d bless him!

Expect a lot of bluster from the A**a- hola but, if assessments of the bombing are accurate, its the end of a very evil regime. Gotta wonder if Kim Jung Un is rethinking all his bluster at this point.

Naturally, history will not be able to ignore Trump and Netanyahu. As for the others, it all depends who gets to write it. If it's the left, we'll have a hagiography of Obama, and a whitewashing of the Biden election theft. If more rational scribes get the pen, Obama will be revealed/reviled as the communist agitator he was, and the theft of the 2020 election using Biden as a sock puppet will become established fact.

With the non-Persian population of Iran at around 40-50% plus the eternal enmity between the Arabic countries and the Persians, it would seem a great resource for the liberation of Iran has been overlooked or unexploited. Perhaps this event will change this.

And to quote a favorite comment from our distant past, “Right on, Mr. Simon!” The action our country took yesterday definitely will prevent a WWIII.

I wish I could be as optimistic as you, but Iran is ruled by psychopathic fanatics pledging to fight until martyrdom. This means that the war currently being fought ain't over until it's over. The best we can hope for at this time is that Israel will destroy enough of its sworn enemies so that Iranians become less gun shy and have the confidence to take back their country.

I don't disagree. As one who has followed this for decades and to some extent been involved in the struggle, I am well aware of the situation. I know a fair amount about the insane Shia eschatology. Nevertheless, there is a Persian core to the Iranian. One of the more interesting states is the degree to which mosques have been closing for nonattendance. Truly hopeful.

Well . I still hope and believe that the women in Iran ( both young and old) will play a part in establishing a new regime.. when the shia rules were put in place it was 1980.. no computers or cell phones.. now every Iranian sees how the rest of us live and enjoy our FREEDOM... There will be a revolution within.. 2025....

Roger, the same Americans that decry the "messianists" in Netanyahu's coalition (Itamar Ben G'vir and Betzalel Smotrich) are studiously ignoring the incontrovertible fact that Iran is run by an apocalyptic, messianist death cult.

By the way, many years ago you encouraged me to write about cars for PJM and that has led to a worthwhile side career. I'm currently writing for the Hagerty insurance company. Thank you for the advice.

I don’t think the mullahs are going to give up that easily. They still have many troops on the ground which will be used against the population, probably in a very vicious fashion, to make sure to crush any nascent opposition. I think the internal struggle for Iran is just beginning. And I’m not sure how exactly it’s going to play out. The best hope is that some lower level military commander will take charge, arrest all the mullahs and their experts, bring them to swift justice, and establish himself as ruler. This would be similar to what Napoleon did to revolutionary France’s Directory in 1799.

Perhaps more apropos to the present situation would be how Atatürk overthrew the Ottoman Sultanate in 1922 and took control of what is now Turkey.

In both instances, a lower level military commander of great skill overthrew a group of elite bureaucrats with little military skill.

The Big & Little Satan are now the strong horses in the Middle East. If the Ayatollah has any smarts left, he'll do what Muhammad did with the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah and declare a hudna.

I hope it’s not like Treaty of Hudaybiyyah! That was a defeat strategically for the Quraysh, which eventually allowed Mohammed to conquer Mecca. I hope it’s more like liberation of Jerusalem in. 1099! The Crusaders held it for 88 years until that rascal Saladin retook it.
