Roger, as always, you are the man. You have given me much needed hope in these fraught times. Good luck, Mr. Grinnell, if you get this job and thank you, President Trump, for Making America Great Again!

Having just seen the movie, "Bonhoefer," last night, I am going to follow his lead and speak boldly on this subject. Russia, at least Putin anyway, does not abide open homosexuality and since Ric Grennell is apparently quite open about it, I'm not so sure he is a good choice. Biblically speaking, any sin we are caught up in must be renounced by us, sought forgiveness for from God and repented of, meaning to turn away from it. The Old and New Testament is quite clear on sin of any kind and lest anyone think I'm picking on homosexuals, I am not. Being an open sinner of any kind without any intention of turning away from it, is a sure formula for inviting the wrath of God upon the individual and even an entire nation. Please be kind in your rebuttals, no pun intended, because I know Roger believes the Old Testament to be true and I believe both Old and New to be God's word and many of you do as well and it is only from His word that I offer this argument.

His approval of homosexuality disqualifies him. Also, any negotiations with Russia can only carry one message: backdown and withdraw, or be worn down by the West. Grinnell is apparently already talking about compromises. You can't compromise with aggressors.

Never trust any media outlet, MSM or not, until the facts are known and even then check more times. I admit this is speculation leavened by respect for the individual involved. I assume readers will know that. Note the use of “may” in the title.

What a brilliant idea...if it's not President Trump's plan I think it should be. It gives Putin a level of respect and let's him know the US is serious about stopping this horrible war.

So Rick Grennell could be to Trump as Harry Hopkins was to FDR.

I can see him getting the job but our worries about Russia starting WWIII seem overblown to me. Putin is enough internal hot water politically. I doubt any Russian will follow him that far - he's on shaky ground already.

An interesting proposal. Although I've never met him, I have high regard for Mr. Grennell. But I think of other special envoys we have had for various tasks like bringing home prisoners in foreign lands, or resolving issues in North Korea, or solving the mideast crisis. They succeeded to varying degrees, mostly depending on how specific their instructions were from the President and how much leeway he gave them. Grennell has succeeded quietly at the tasks he's been given; I think he would do well with the Ukraine war, but he has very little time or leeway, given the manner in which the current administration is rushing us to conflict. I would like to see him take this on.

My apologies for having sometimes incorrectly spelled Grenell's name with an an extra "n." Working late has its disadvantages.

I was wondering the same thing, why have we not heard Grenell’s name yet!? He was one of the most effective members of the first Trump administration and sure as hell needs to be in this one. BTW, I have spent a great deal of time in Ukraine myself and can confirm that the country does not belong as a member of NATO. I hope Ric in fact gets a call soon as he is a huge asset in any capacity!

Excellent observation and endorsement, IMO. One has to believe that subsequent to this horrible "parting gifts" strategy of bombing into Russia by our erstwhile current "President" and his string pullers, I have to believe President elect Trump (PET, now my favorite PET, to be candid) must be in contact with Putin to encourage him to be as rationale as he can be, considering the real issues you identify for him in his own country. I hope and pray this is the case. I have three adult sons and several grandchildren. The sons have all expressed concern that Biden is leading us to WWIII. I have shared my logic, but I really can't compare the current state to anything to buttress my logic, other than PET is a smart brave man, not afraid to use his phone. And Grenell is clearly excellent. Hiding under desk chairs in grade school is nothing compared to today!

God said in the last days men will call evil good and good evil. Homosexuality is an abomination to God and it is what got sodom and gamorrah destroyed. It is a sin and to be rejected, not glorified, but you have the right to do so at your own destruction.

Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's

Context in Scripture is important and this verse taken from Matthew 22:21 was Jesus's response when the pharisees wanted to know if it was lawful to pay taxes to Caesar when what they were really trying to do was entrap Jesus if He gave the wrong answer. He did not. He asked them to show Him a coin and then pointed out that their money had Caesar's image and inscription on it which prompted His words in verse 21. To extrapolate meaning that somehow when it comes to the government, character doesn't matter is a grave mistake and unrepentant sin of any kind is going to have its consequences for the individual and for us as a nation if we turn a blind eye to it. Imagine if it was another kind of sin that Grenell was guilty of and refused to turn away from? We all know the list from the Bible and some seem more consequential within a society than others might but in God's eyes, they are all sins that we must struggle against, not endorse by elevating someone who practices them without any thought of giving them up.

Fantastic information. Thanks for sharing. I was not aware of this. It makes sense that Mr. Trump would have to create a solution outside the system, to reform/purge the swamp.

But your article made me think that he might be creating a replacement system. Hmmm

When I heard that Uncle Joe gave that criminal Zelenskyy the go ahead to fire missiles into Russia I literally defecated in my new Thanksgiving Charlie Brown shorts!! I'm sure Bidens lemmings all sat around the oval office lamenting the prospect of updating their resumes on LinkedIn now and as a farewell 'stick it to the white, male 'supremacists' one last time!!! woke Joe up and gave him the thumbs up on the missiles!! Thanks to Bidenomics, I had to pay triple for the cost of concrete to finish my bomb shelter, but it was worth every stinking penny of it! God Bless America, our military and our Veterans as always. Happy Thanksgiving to you Roger, your family and all your dedicated readers.
