The barbarity that occurred on Oct 7,2023 should have been a wake up call for all humankind. Alas, we live in an evermore depraved society. However, my Old Testament (your Torah) contains prophecy about G-d calling His people back to His land. Could it be that the rise of antisemitism in a hostile world will result in many making aliyah? May it be so as I long for His people (Jews) to live in safety.

Russ Roberts (Hoover Institution) and great economist, founder of EconTalk, moved back to Israel and is happy there. For the Goyim like me, our hope has to be Argentina if the US turns dark.

Caroline Glick made the argument the other day that if Harris wins the election, she will put US sanctions on Netanyahu, his cabinet and those building settlements in Judea and Samaria. As Harris was essentially a member of The Squad in the Senate when she was elected to that office and insulted Bibi when she refused as Vice-President to preside over his speech to the Congress, this should surprise no one.

I'm not Jewish and I've got six years on you Roger, ain't much they can do to me either.

However they are coming after all of us, gentile and Jew.

It's amazing that folks don't realize this. The disconnect from reality, students today, brains washed, rinsed and re-washed, sad, very sad but not too surprising. However groups such as the pro-palestine LBGT-etc. crowd, women, Episcopalians, etc. for example, mind boggling.

Since he’s incapable of leading a political campaign, what makes him capable of leading our country? Why is Biden still President? If Biden were to resign––and he should, Kamala would be sworn in and I think the American people would get a better sense of what a disaster she would be if elected...

Love you and the lady. I feel your love, concern and pain. Need more on IDF spiritual experiences in combat. HaShem is good.

Re our Judeo-Christian foundation--I had an interesting exchange with two women in Martha's Vineyard recently. I was wearing my Trump/Vance tee shirt (interestingly 14 of 16 people that commented were positive). The two who were negative told me Trump is "evil", etc. My response was that as Americans we should be able to hold and discuss differing viewpoints. As I left I said "God bless you"...which elicited harrumphs and a comment that they don't believe in God. I asked them (they were older so would be familiar I thought) if they followed "The Golden Rule". As they responded, of course, my answer was that they then live by a Judeo-Christian ethic.

These two were older women, but are our young being raised with this idea? Without such concern for a fellow men and women, living together becomes fraught with contention. I fear this is so in many parts of our wonderful USA, which now seems like a wounded eagle.

But as the prophet Isaiah says, "Those that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength..mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint"

May this be true for you Roger in this new year of iirc 5785.

Oct. 7th was a wake up call to our Jewish and non-Jewish U.S. citizens like myself and what we as a nation and people truly believe is a righteous cause to stand with others with moral clarity. Growing up with Jewish friends and attending Bar/Bat Mitzvah's I remember the grandparents in attendance and this certain aura surrounding them of happiness but without exuberance. This was in 1977 close to or in Skokie IL and looking back it was probably people that survived a dark period in history. I will proudly stand with the Jewish community in this time of resolve.

As Roger notes, the "intermittent" support of the U.S. towards Israel is a stain on our existence. Only through prayer and repentance can we expect to change the tide of antisemitism that still exists in this country.

This column and Bari Weiss's should be required reading every Oct 7th.

I think that Israel has every right and obligation to defend itself and it's people. I have not heard much about how Israel is holding their leaders accountable for this attack. As I understand there were many warning signs that were ignored. I hope and pray that those who failed to do their jobs will be held accountable. I for one think the Biden administration failed to provide you with everything you needed to take out those responsible for the attacks. Thank God Trump will be back in office.

I fail to understand virtually anything about this nightmare that my nation has somehow devolved to. Superficially, it all seems to be insanity but I know that it is evil.

Trump is the ONLY ONE who can lead our country back to its Constitutional laws. And that means we must back away from the present regime in order to restore our country and the nation of Israel. As a diaspora Jew, I agree with everything you have written. I just wish our fellow voting Jewish people would see the light and stop voting for those who would lead us to those boxcars again.

Roger, as usual, I love your perspective on this sad day and what it has brought to light. As a Christian, I traveled extensively through the Middle East and talked to and dined with people in every one of the countries;, and, came to realize that for most business people politics was just that, politics. One evening I had dinner in Tel Aviv with an Israeli and his good friend and business partner, a Lebanese Muslim. It was eye opening to say the least as they literally said that as youth they recognized they may have shot at each other and yet today they are good friends. They also recognized that the vast majority of people simply want to live in peace and comfort, but too many so called “leaders” do not want this, they want the chaos which begets control for them. Maybe one day, we will get there, but I don’t think I will live to see it. I trust Americans, including its Jewish population will realize the immense danger to our Republic if Harris wins in November. If she wins, I seriously doubt anyone will be able to save the Republican. God bless, and let us all pray for Israel and the hostages still in captivity.

I am not a Jew but a Christian and I encourage my beloved Jewish brethren to make Aliyah to Israel in a renewed spiritual sense if they cannot make it physically at present.

Be encouraged by your Book of Zachariah chapters 8 & 9 especially. A few verses from 8:20-23...

20 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come, 21 and the inhabitants of one city will go to another and say, ‘Let us go at once to entreat the Lord and seek the Lord Almighty. I myself am going.’ 22 And many peoples and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to seek the Lord Almighty and to entreat him.”

23 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In those days ten people from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.’”
