Good column with good advice, Roger, with one exception.

You write: "We do particularly badly in math, more than arguably the key to technological and personal advancement in modern times."

The importance of mathematics is is paramount, but not as paramount as language skills. There is a reason that reading and writing are mentioned before arithmetic in the old alliterative phrase, "Reading, Writing and Arithmetic." If children can't express themselves or understand the language they are hearing, they are disadvantaged. Too many can't comprehend simple sentences or define simple words. Mathematics can be better understood if you have the language skills to learn it.

Of course there is always the problem that children are being taught language by Weingarten and her accomplices that reflects progressive biases. But that is another issue, the issue of indoctrination.

Totally on point. As usual Roger, you point out more of our societal ailments. I believe you are particularly credible for many reasons, but mainly because you are articulate and come from a former left leaning background so that cannot attack you as a brainwashed conservative. I am grateful you search with true discernment and have the courage to speak out. Please keep it up.
